Stifled By Immaturity: Part I
Immaturity is defined as:
Youth; the condition of being immature or not fully grown
Some Characteristics of Spiritual Immaturity:
1. Unable to Pray

4. Negative thought patterns
5. Easily misled
6. Easily persuaded to walk outside God's will
7. Follows emotions
8. Struggle to distinquish between right from wrong
9. Entertain temper tantrums (Shut down spirit, isolation, combative, defensive, etc.)
10. Despises correction

12. Lacks discipline to study the word
13. Constant need for confirmation/affirmation
14. Extreme lack of discernment
15. Compromising
16. Lack of spiritual growth (especially in the midst of a spiritually sound environment)
17. Dull hearing (huge struggle with understanding spiritual things)
18. DEPENDENCY ON OTHERS!!!! (In the sense of not being able to press through in prayer for one's self. Always needing someone to tell you what to do and where to go and what decisions to make, instead fo seeking God.)
**Spiritual Immaturity is one of the leading causes of compromise and comparison among believers. It also prevents believers from releasing their complete will to God which enables one to walk in pure ministry. Based on these notes, how do you perceive spiritual immaturity as a hindrance to you in your walk with the Lord. Let me tell you, there are people who have been saved 10 and 15 years who operate in more than half of these -- yet are thinking and believing they are doing God's will. I hope you have fun with this!**
Hebrews 5:11-14:
11Concerning this we have much to say which is hard to explain, since you have become dull in your [spiritual] hearing and sluggish [even [a]slothful in achieving spiritual insight]. 12For even though by this time you ought to be teaching others, you actually need someone to teach you over again the very first principles of God's Word. You have come to need milk, not solid food. 13For everyone who continues to feed on milk is obviously inexperienced and unskilled in the doctrine of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action), for he is a mere infant [not able to talk yet]! 14But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law.
Ephesians 4:14:
14So then, we may no longer be children, tossed [like ships] to and fro between chance gusts of teaching and wavering with every changing wind of doctrine, [the prey of] the cunning and cleverness of [a]unscrupulous men, [gamblers engaged] in every shifting form of trickery in inventing errors to mislead.
