Who is Holy Spirit?

We cannot talk about hearing from God or walking out the gifts He has entrusted to us without talking about Holy Spirit (Ruach Hakodesh). The Lord prompted me today to focus on Holy Spirit in this coming season with His scribes. There's just not enough teaching in this area.

Often, we talk about relationship here, but a well rounded relationship includes the Father, the Son AND Holy Spirit -- not just one of them or only two. In this group (The Scribal Anointing) and in the ministry of Voices of Christ we will be focusing on Holy Spirit at a much greater level in addition to the doorway -- our Lord and  deliverer, Jesus Christ (Yahshuah).

This post is not written to "teach you" who He is... as many of you may already know a great deal. It's intent is to remind you of who He is. When the VOC Directors and I speak of Him, it is important that you understand the capacity in which we are teaching. You see, Jesus came to show us the way, and Holy Spirit was released to guide us in the ways of Heaven.

Holy Spirit is not:

• A feeling
• An it
• A something
• Some goose bumps
• A shake or a shout
• A loud yell
• A strange sound
• A scream
• A dance
• Falling on the floor
• Jiggles, twitches and jerks
• Groaning and moaning
• Emotional displays
• A breeze flowing through the room

We cannot sum him up using this list of adjectives. If you have ever been churched, you will recognize some of these learned behaviors as being associated with Holy Spirit's moving. Please understand that while a person who is IN THE SPIRIT may shake, yell, cry, feel something, etc. -- that this may very well be how they are experiencing the Lord. But we cannot continue to equate one person's experience with WHO Holy Spirit is as a person.

He "is" the ever present Spirit of the Lord GOD that has been released into the earth for a season. When His season is up here, He will depart and return to the Father. Holy Spirit is a GREAT GIFT given to us specifically to comfort and guide us in preparing the way for Christ's return.

The patriarchs of old DID NOT HAVE THE BENEFIT OF HAVING HIM dwell continuously inside them! Instead, He visited, filled and overshadowed only those people whom the Lord chose.

Much has been given to us by our Father. He gave his only begotten son, and then left us with a measure of His spirit. We really need to understand WHO Holy Spirit is and how much POWER, WISDOM, KNOWLEDGE, AUTHORITY & UNDERSTANDING we have at our disposal because HE LIVES within us.

Many, many believers have yet to tap into Holy Spirit to the full in their lives and request help or allow Him to lead. This is why we need to take a walk through the scriptures. As we do, be encouraged in knowing that our Father wants to reveal the personhood of Holy Spirit to you. It pleases Him to do so.

1. **Matthew 3:16-17
As soon as Jesus (the Son) was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) descending like a dove and lighting on him.

Who is Holy Spirit?  Holy Spirit IS the Spirit of the God.

2. **Matthew 28:19
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of Holy Spirit.

Who is Holy Spirit? He is the ONLY ONE who performs the work of salvation on behalf of the Father and Jesus - meaning He tenderizes the heart to receive the Word.

3. **John 14:16-17
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Who is Holy Spirit? He is a part of the triune presence of God who has been sent as a counselor to God's people. He serves as God's advisor and eternal witness on the inside of and on behalf of every born-again believer on the planet. He brings us into the TRUTH of God's Word. It is IMPOSSIBLE for the world to know who HOLY SPIRIT IS because He is not of this world. His nature is released and revealed only to those who believe. His home is not in the air or in a building. He lives INSIDE us. Wherever we go and whatever we do -- He is a witness to everything.

4. **2 Corinthians 13:14
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of Holy Spirit be with you all.

Who is Holy Spirit? He is the very present person of God whom we are to live with in FELLOWSHIP. This means that we can speak with Him, hear Him, be taught by Him, etc. One biblical term for fellowship is intercourse. In other words, Holy Spirit is our access to deep intimacy with Father and His universe.

5. **Acts 2:32-33
God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.

Who is Holy Spirit? Holy Spirit is Father's promise to help us in the earth realm. Holy Spirit was guided by Christ into the earth and poured out on by Christ. It is by Holy Spirit that we have the gift to see and hear. In other words, Holy Spirit IS our discernment.

6. John 14:26
"But the Helper, Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."

Who is Holy Spirit? He is our HELPER and our TEACHER who was sent in the name of JESUS. One primary roles He plays in our lives is to remind us of all the things spoken by Christ and to bring us into deeper places of revelation and understanding concerning the Word. His primary mission is to keep us rooted in the WILL of the Father.

7. John 16:8-11
"And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged."

Who is Holy Spirit? He is the one who convicts the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment because of the world's unbelief. How profound is this! If Holy Spirit does this in us as believers; then He must also bring this forth THROUGH US so that the Gospel can be preached. Holy Spirit IS AN EVANGELIST in the earth -- igniting Christ's passion in the hearts of men.

8. 1 Corinthians 6:11
And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

Who is Holy Spirit? He is the one who transforms us in the sight of God. When we are born again, HE does the washing, the cleansing and the healing. He brings the reconciliation.

9. 1 Corinthians 12:4-7
There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all...

Who is Holy Spirit? He expands, releases and directs all spiritual gifts -- including PROPHECY.

10. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22
Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

Ephesians 1:13-14
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

Who is Holy Spirit? He is the "seal" or the mark upon every believer that identifies them as "the property of God." He is the GUARANTEE of our salvation and inheritance in the Father. His very presence inside us is a SEAL and PROOF that we have been chosen.

11. John 15:26
But when the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) comes, Whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth Who comes (proceeds) from the Father, He [Himself] will testify regarding Me.

Who is Holy Spirit? He is a witness on behalf of the Father and of Jesus. He is the Spirit of Truth (or Prophecy) that testifies concerning YOUR LIFE in the Lord. He sees EVERYTHING and one day will report these things back to the Lord. He is also our INTERCESSOR and EXHORTER...

12. Acts 1:8
"But you shall receive power when Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Who is Holy Spirit? He is the POWER on the inside of us that works signs, wonders and miracles -- enabling us to truly imitate Christ. It is because of Him that we can be witnesses through the gifts of God in the earth.

13. Romans 8:27
And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.

Who is Holy Spirit? He is our intercessor and prays constantly on our behalf, with us and through us - just as Christ does. He even has a prayer language that is unique between Him and the Father concerning us. (Side Note: When I pray for myself, I often ask Father to teach me to pray in agreement with Holy Spirit.)
